Japan weather agency warns of landslides amid heavy rain on Yakushima
TOKYO - Japan's weather agency on Saturday continued to urge maximum vigilance for landslides caused by heavy rain on Yakushima Island in the southwestern Japan prefecture of Kagoshima, after temporarily issuing its highest emergency warning.
The Japan Meteorological Agency lowered the landslide warning to Level 4 from the highest Level 5 before noon. At Level 4, people are still urged to evacuate from affected areas.

1 teen missing, 2 safe after being swept away off western Japan beach
TOTTORI, Japan - One person remained missing after three teenage boys were swept away while swimming off a beach in western Japan on Saturday, while the other two made it safely back to shore, police said.
A friend who was with them called emergency services at around 3:45 p.m. to report that three swimmers had been carried offshore in Iwami, Tottori Prefecture, according to the police.

2 teachers injured as man sprays unknown substance in Tokyo high school
TOKYO - A man was arrested Saturday in Tokyo after an unknown substance was sprayed during a cultural festival at a high school, injuring two teachers, police said.
A male teacher at the school in Higashiyamato made an emergency call at around 11:25 a.m. reporting that a man suspected of voyeurism had been apprehended, according to the police.
