TSU, Japan - A large fire broke out Monday afternoon in a shopping district in Ise, central Japan, and is believed to have spread to multiple buildings near Ise Jingu shrine, local police said.
The affected district is in central Ise in Mie Prefecture near the outer shrine of Ise Jingu. The shrine complex is one of Japan's most sacred Shinto sites.
