SHIZUOKA, Japan - Yokohama F Marinos beat Shimizu S-Pulse 1-0 on Saturday for their first win of the new J.League first-division season.
The visitors finally broke the deadlock in the 79th minute through Taisei Inoue's right-footed shot at IAI Stadium.
"After suffering that kind of defeat in our home opener last week, we spent the entire week preparing with the determination to bring back three points this time," Inoue said of Marinos' 4-3 loss to defending champions Kashima Antlers.
"It was my goal in the end, but I'm really glad I was able to help the team earn the three points," said the 23-year-old defender, who scored his first J1 goal.
Shimizu failed to score in their home opener as Marinos goalkeeper Ruben Blanco made a crucial save to deny a goal-bound header from S-Pulse striker Koya Kitagawa in the second half.
Meanwhile, Mito HollyHock, playing their first full J1 season, were still seeking their first win after a 1-1 draw with Gamba Osaka.
