NEW YORK - Japan guard Yuki Kawamura will join his countryman Rui Hachimura at the Los Angeles Clippers for training camp after signing an Exhibit 10 contract on Sunday.
Kawamura was an unrestricted free agent after playing for the Chicago Bulls last season and then appearing in five Summer League games for the Indiana Pacers, registering 12 assists in the final game on July 18 against the New Orleans Pelicans.
The 25-year-old is entering the third season of his NBA career, which began with an Exhibit 10 contract with the Memphis Grizzlies that was converted into a two-way contract, allowing him to play in the developmental G League as well as up to 50 games in the NBA.
The Yamaguchi Prefecture native averaged 1.6 points and 0.9 assists in 4.2 minutes over 22 NBA games in his debut campaign.
He averaged 3.4 points and 2.6 assists in 11.6 minutes over 18 games last season with the Bulls after inking a two-way contract. The Clippers signed the unrestricted free agent forward Hachimura to a reported two-year $28 million deal this summer following the conclusion of his three-year contract with the Los Angeles Lakers.
