Apartment building fire injures 12 in western Tokyo

TOKYO - Twelve people suffered minor injuries after a fire broke out at an apartment building in Koganei, western Tokyo, on Monday night, local authorities said.

The injured ranged in age from 1 to their 80s and all were believed to be residents of the 13-story building. Five were taken to hospital after complaining of symptoms such as sore throat.
