LOS ANGELES - Two-way star Shohei Ohtani blasted his 10th leadoff home run of the season and finished 3-for-4 with three RBIs for the Los Angeles Dodgers in Tuesday's 7-6 loss to the Seattle Mariners.
The see-sawing battle at Dodger Stadium featured seven home runs, including two by Seattle right-fielder Dominic Canzone.
Still dealing with a left knee issue that has been keeping him off the mound, Ohtani showed no signs of trouble with his hitting as he launched a fly ball 432 feet (132 meters) over center field for his 23rd homer of the year.
Homers by Seattle's Cal Raleigh, Julio Rodriguez and Rob Refsnyder helped the visitors take a 4-2 lead before the Dodgers rallied back in the bottom of the fourth, with Ohtani's bases-loaded single tying the game 4-4.
Max Muncy and Canzone traded solo homers to leave the game knotted 5-5 before Canzone delivered a go-ahead two-run blast in the top of the eighth.
Ohtani made it a one-run game when he lined an RBI double to right field in the bottom of the ninth, but he was eventually left stranded on third as the Mariners escaped with the bases loaded.
In other Major League Baseball action, Kazuma Okamoto belted his 24th home run for the Toronto Blue Jays and went 1-for-2 after coming off the bench in their 8-6 loss at the Washington Nationals.
Okamoto entered as a defensive substitution in the bottom of the fourth inning and went long in his first at-bat in the top of the fifth, sending a fly ball 415 feet over center field at Nationals Park.
Seiya Suzuki had a productive outing for the Chicago Cubs in their 10-2 win at the St. Louis Cardinals, going 3-for-5 with a second-inning RBI double and an eighth-inning RBI single.
