Tokyo area condo prices top 100 mil. yen in Jan.-June for 1st time

TOKYO - The average price of a new condominium in Tokyo and its three surrounding prefectures topped 100 million yen ($615,000) for the first time in the first half of 2026, reaching a record 101.35 million yen, a research institute said Tuesday.

The average price in Tokyo and the surrounding prefectures of Chiba, Kanagawa and Saitama rose 13.1 percent from the first six months of last year, reflecting rising construction costs and hitting a record high for the second straight year, according to the Real Estate Economic Institute.
