LOS ANGELES - Los Angeles Dodgers two-way star Shohei Ohtani and his wife, Mamiko, have welcomed their second child, he said Saturday in an Instagram post, a day after missing a game against the Baltimore Orioles.
"We are again overjoyed to experience this wonderful day in our lives together," Ohtani said in the post, adding, "Thank you for being born safely."
Ohtani announced his marriage in February 2024. The couple welcomed their first child, a daughter, in April 2025.
When his wife was due to give birth to their first child, Ohtani was placed on Major League Baseball's paternity list, which allows players to leave their team for up to three days. However, MLB.com said that he was not placed on the list this time.
Before Ohtani's announcement, the Dodgers said in a post Friday on X that the Japanese player was expected to return "at some point this weekend."
