CHICAGO - The Chicago White Sox said Saturday they have placed Japanese slugger Munetaka Murakami on the 10-day injured list with a right hamstring strain.

Murakami, tied for the American League lead with 20 home runs, is expected to miss four to six weeks, according to manager Will Venable.

The 26-year-old rookie was replaced after experiencing right hamstring tightness during the White Sox's 4-3 walk-off win over the Detroit Tigers on Friday.

Speaking to reporters in Chicago, Murakami said, "I'm extremely frustrated. There's nothing I can do about what has already happened. I want to look ahead and work hard so that I can return having grown, even if only a little."

Murakami, who joined the White Sox from the Yakult Swallows in the offseason, was batting .240 with 20 home runs and 41 RBIs in 57 games.
