TOKYO - Returning ozeki Kirishima outwrestled burgeoning talent Yoshinofuji in a tightly fought battle Monday at the Summer Grand Sumo Tournament as the action inside the ring was overshadowed by the injury withdrawal of yokozuna Hoshoryu.

The Mongolian-born grand champion became the latest big name to pull out of the 15-day meet at Tokyo's Ryogoku Kokugikan arena after injuring his right hamstring during his opening day loss to komusubi Takayasu.
