Hello Kitty theme park in southwest Japan celebrates 35th anniversary

OITA, Japan - A Hello Kitty theme park in southwestern Japan commemorated its 35th anniversary on Sunday, as over 1,300 fans gathered in the rain to watch the global pop icon and other beloved Sanrio characters dance in celebration.

The Sanrio Character Park Harmonyland in Hiji, Oita Prefecture, which features a myriad of characters from Hello Kitty to My Melody, was also set to hold a special night performance later in the day.
