TOKYO - Sekiwake Kirishima claimed the outright lead and a winning record by beating No. 2 maegashira Ura, but the Mongolian-born grappler's title charge was overshadowed as both yokozuna suffered consecutive defeats Monday at the New Year Grand Sumo Tournament.
Injury-hampered Onosato looked a fraction of his best as he was beaten by komusubi Wakamotoharu, while fellow grand champion Hoshoryu, who is also facing questions about his health, fell to No. 4 maegashira Atamifuji on Day 9 of the 15-day meet at Tokyo's Ryogoku Kokugikan arena.
